Legal Assistant II – Criminal Intake Unit

Position Overview

The Legal Assistant II in the Criminal Intake Unit provides secretarial support for the unit Deputy Chief, Assistant State Attorneys as well as Paralegals within the unit.  The work schedule for this position is 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

 The Job Responsibilities are:

  •  Screening Worthless Checks phone calls and physical walk-in visitors
  • Processing Worthless Checks cases
  • Maintaining the Worthless Checks Log
  • Sending out letters to checkwriters and victims
  • Contacting police departments for assistance in identifying check writers
  • Preparing bank subpoenas
  • Preparing cases for filing
  • Entering data into the Worthless Checks database and Hydra
  • Reviewing Worthless Checks cases with attorneys
  • Maintaining Worthless Checks PB2 Stats
  • Notarizing documents for filing on Criminal Intake and Worthless Checks cases
  • Preparing subpoenas, warrants, injunction orders
  • Creating and updating cases in Misdemeanor and Felony Hydra
  • Distributing, organizing and scanning Worthless Checks/Criminal Intake incoming/outgoing mail daily
  • Monitoring and responding to incoming emails to the unit via its four email boxes: Criminal Intake, Warrant, Subpoena and Injunction
  • Answering and screening all calls for the unit
  • Taking court documents to morning and afternoon Bond Court
  • Performing other related duties as assigned which can include having contact with the public and law enforcement

The Minimum Requirements are:

 One (1) year clerical experience

The Preferred Qualifications and Skills are:

  •  Being fluent in English and Spanish

Yearly Salary Range: $33,810.12
