Investigations Unit

State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle’s Criminal Investigations Division (Investigations Unit) is composed of sworn law enforcement officers who cooperate with various police agencies (local, state, and federal) at the direction of the State Attorney. Investigators have limited statewide (Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and Munroe Counties) jurisdiction to make arrests on felony warrants or when a felony is committed in their presence.

The Unit executes complex investigations that include a variety of alleged criminal activity. Additionally, the investigators work closely with Assistant State Attorneys in the Public Corruption Unit, the Human Trafficking Unit, the Northside and Miami Gardens Gun Violence Initiatives, and the South Florida Financial Crimes Strike Force. The Investigations Unit provides security to the State Attorney and Miami SAO employees. It also responds to and investigates threats against Assistant State Attorneys. Lastly, the Unit specializes in the location of witnesses and places a high priority on the service of process to witnesses in criminal cases to facilitate successful prosecutions.

The Unit staffs an experienced team of 19 law enforcement veterans committed to helping State Attorney Fernandez Rundle keep our community safe.
