Position Overview:

There is an immediate opening for an Assistant State Attorney position in our Felony Screening Unit.  

The Job Responsibilities are: 

In addition to regular contact with police witnesses and civilians, the person selected will interact with all levels of government and governmental agencies, including regulatory bodies and non-criminal, non-investigative agencies. Attention to detail, the ability to coordinate and mediate, and good people skills are all necessary for this position.

The Minimum Requirements are:

Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in criminal law and have a good knowledge of criminal law and procedure, good interviewing skills, and decision-making ability.  Membership in the Florida Bar is required. 

Starting Annual Salary: Salary will be commensurate with experience.  The full package of State benefits accompanies this position (including health, life, and disability insurance, liberal annual and sick leave accrual, deferred compensation and retirement program). Position Overview:

Entry level position for Florida Bar members with no experience who have demonstrated an interest in family law through coursework and/or internships.

Assistant State Attorneys (ASAs) handle a large volume caseload with emphasis on many aspects of civil litigation including basic and complex issues relating to paternity, support, enforcement, modifications, UIFSA cases and other related child support issues.

The Job Responsibilities are: 

Duties include drafting pleadings and other legal documents, case preparation and court presentation before General Magistrates, Hearing Officers, and Judges. Training on and operation of the Child Support Automated Management System (CAMS) is a required component of the job function.

The Minimum Requirements are:

Preference may be given to Florida Bar members with a minimum of one year of family law experience.

Position Overview:

The Legal Division of the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office provides pretrial and trial support for the assistants. 

The Job Responsibilities are: 

Duties include researching and being able to orally provide legal support for assistants in court as well as writing motions on investigative, pretrial and trial issues; handling post-conviction motions; researching, writing and arguing appellate briefs and petitions; and attending trials of complex cases.

The Minimum Requirements are:

Minimum 5 years of extensive criminal experience required, with appellate experience preferred as excellent writing skills are necessary.  Membership in the Florida Bar is also required.

TITLE:  Assistant State Attorney – Money Laundering Strike Force

Position Overview:

The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office is seeking a Florida Bar member with at least three years’ experience to work with the South Florida Financial Crimes Strike Force (SFFCSF).

The Job Responsibilities are: 

This is primarily a civil litigation position and the selected candidate will be responsible for litigating civil forfeitures on behalf of the SFFCSF in Miami-Dade County Circuit Court. The assigned Assistant State Attorney will also be expected to provide legal advice to participating Strike Force law enforcement agencies in proactive money laundering and related investigations.

The Minimum Requirements are:

Preference will be given to individuals with superior writing and organization skills, significant litigation experience, and an interest in criminal and civil investigations. Membership in the Florida Bar is also required. 

Starting Annual Salary: Salary will be commensurate with experience, within the range of $60,000 and $70,000.  The full package of State benefits accompanies this position.
