Legal Assistant III – Felony Divisions: Career Criminal Robbery

Position Overview

The Career Criminal Robbery Legal Assistant III in the Felony Divisions provides secretarial and trial support for two (2) trial active prosecutors, with emphasis on police officer and expert witness coordination for career criminal cases. The work schedule for this position is 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with flexibility when prepping for trial, during actual trial, or important hearings.

The Job Responsibilities are:

  • Preparing trial availabilities
  • Providing coverage preparing daily court calendar, supplemental and alias capias calendars
  • Providing coverage processing court calendar returns
  • Preparing subpoenas, motions and orders
  • Maintaining and logging all Certified Documents
  • Maintaining Databases
  • Ordering photos, body-worn cam videos, police reports and other supporting documentation from additional agencies
  • Scanning files/documents per our paperless policy
  • Uploading all media to Axon/Evidence.com
  • Completing requests for assigned prosecutors
  • Conducting extensive phone work and having contact with partnering agencies, expert witnesses and law enforcement personnel
  • Coordinating travel arrangements for assigned prosecutors, expert witnesses and retired police officers
  • Providing back-up support to other unit prosecutors
  • Distributing and organizing incoming/outgoing mail
  • Assisting with ongoing training of new staff
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

The Minimum Requirements are:

  • Two (2) years clerical experience, one (1) year of which must be a legal assistant
  • Must be able to lift boxes weighing 25 pounds

The Preferred Qualifications and Skills are:

  •  Being fluent in English and Spanish

Starting Annual Salary: $39,324.12
