Legal Assistant III – Sexual Battery/Child Abuse Unit

Position Overview
The Legal Assistant III supports the Assistant State Attorneys in the Sexual Battery/Child Abuse Unit. This position will be responsible for handling confidential, sensitive and complex sexual battery/child abuse cases, which includes graphic details of horrific incidents and exposure to profane language. The work schedule for this position is 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Job Responsibilities are:
- Providing assistance to the ASAs in trial on complex and highly confidential Sexual Battery/Child Abuse cases
- Preparing daily court, supplemental and arrest warrant calendars for Assistant State Attorneys
- Reviewing and distributing weekly ASA audits
- Drafting and distributing correspondence
- Processing incoming mail, subpoenas and ordering supplies
- Maintaining attorneys’ schedules and coordinating meetings
- Conducting extensive phone contact with victims and witnesses
- Coordinating travel arrangements and processing expense reimbursements
- Scheduling pre-file conferences, forensic interviews, state depositions and subpoena duces tecum
- Ordering transcripts, DCF/RTC reports and any necessary records for cases
- Ordering photos, body worn cam videos, police reports and other supporting documentation from additional agencies
- Completing requests for Assistant State Attorneys
- Providing coverage for co-workers as needed
- Performing other related duties as assigned
The Minimum Requirements are:
- High School Diploma or its equivalent
- Two (2) years of general clerical/secretarial experience
The Preferred Qualifications and Skills are:
- Possessing working knowledge of community resources
- Possessing working knowledge of HYDRA, CJIS, Evidence.com and E-Notify programs
- Possessing one (1) year of Legal Assistant experience

Starting Annual Salary: $38,076.00
