Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez led the charge in the fight this legislative session. In February, she traveled to Tallahassee and told lawmakers that “shamefully low salaries” had contributed to her office losing some 80 prosecutors in the last year.
“I am grateful to the legislature for these historic increases and hope these positive changes will impact our ability to recruit new team members and retain those of you who have continued to make the sacrifice on behalf of our community,” said State Attorney Fernandez Rundle in an email to her SAO team.
