Paralegal Specialist III-Career Criminal/Robbery and Repeat Offender Unit

 Position Overview

 The Paralegal III in the Career Criminal Robbery (CCR)/ROC Unit is responsible for performing highly complex and independent assignments in support of the Division Chief and Assistant Chiefs as well as the ASA’s in CCR. The work shift for this position is 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The Job Responsibilities are:

  •  Analyzing and summarizing information on statutes, memoranda, and other legal material
  • Examining and analyzing arrest affidavits for legal criteria as related to habitual offenders, habitual violent offenders, PRRP, and Gort
  • Examining legal documents to insure completeness of information and conformity with pertinent laws, rules, regulations, precedents, or office requirements
  • Assisting in legal research
  • Handling high volume public contact
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

The Minimum requirements are:

  •  Bachelor’s Degree, and one (1) year experience as a Paralegal, Victim Witness Counselor, Case Analyst, or Legal Secretary (Trial Coordinator), or
  • Associate Degree and three (3) years’ experience as a Paralegal, Victim Witness Counselor, Case Analyst, or Legal Secretary (Trial Coordinator), or
  • Successful completion of a two (2) year Paralegal program and three (3) years’ experience as a Paralegal, Victim Witness Counselor, Case Analyst, or Legal Secretary (Trial Coordinator), or
  • Five (5) years equivalent combination of experience working as a as a Paralegal, Victim Witness Counselor, Case Analyst, or Legal Secretary (Trial Coordinator)

The Preferred Qualities/Characteristics are:

  •  Possessing knowledge of the criminal justice system

 Starting Annual Salary: $39,091.20
