Position Overview:

The Legal Assistant III in the Child Support Legal Department is responsible for supporting the Assistant State Attorney through a court process with an ultimate goal of establishing financial support for the children of Miami-Dade County. There are two (2) available positions in the Legal Secretary Unit and two (2) available positions in the Legal Court Secretary Unit. The work schedules are: 7:45- 4:15 am or 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Job Responsibilities are:
• Virtually preparing correspondence, motions, subpoenas, notices, letters, and answers for the ASAs
• Processing Virtual Legal Referrals
• Coordinating CHC hearings with all business partners, including respondent’s counsel and pro se litigants • Maintaining the CHC Attorney’s calendar
• Preparing CHC or Division 46 court orders using Corts 2.0 and Court Map
• Screening phone calls
• Updating CORTS, Case Tracking and CAMs databases
• Completing requests from the Division Chief, Assistant State Attorneys, and CTAs
• Distributing and organizing E-Service emails
• Performing other related duties as assigned

The Minimum requirements are:

• High School Diploma or its equivalent
• Three (3) years of general clerical/secretarial experience
• Successful completion of a Skills Test

Specific Skills and Characteristics:

The Successful Candidate must be able to:

• Type 30 accurate words per minute
• Possess and demonstrate thorough knowledge of Corts 2.0, Court Map, Corts and Case tracking
• Possess and demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Possess and demonstrate excellent computer skills
• Prioritize and meet stringent deadlines
• Possess and demonstrate working effectively under pressure
• Be very detailed oriented
• Work independently
• Be adaptable to change
• Work effectively with all levels of staff and outside agencies

Starting Annual Salary: $28,288.08
