Legal Assistant II – Elder and Vulnerable Adult Unit

Position Overview

The Legal Assistant position in the Elder and Vulnerable Adult Unit supports one (1) Assistant State Attorney with complex and confidential cases both filed and investigative.  This position also provides support to other unit attorneys as needed. The work schedule for this position is 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position offers a Limited Flexible Work Schedule and Teleworking Option


The Job Responsibilities are:

  • Setting up new cases by coordinating all victims, witnesses, and officers to appear for pre-file conferences
  • Processing correspondence, motions, subpoenas, and notices
  • Screening phone calls, including economic crime related complaint calls
  • Processing mail and e-service mail
  • Completing attorney requests
  • Scheduling debriefings, depositions, and pretrial conferences
  • Requesting transcripts and records as needed
  • Preparing weekly trial availabilities
  • Preparing travel arrangements
  • Maintaining calendar of appointments
  • Maintaining an Excel spreadsheet of the unit’s workload
  • Drafting letters and memos as needed
  • Serving as back-up to other units including but not limited to: Insurance & Workers Compensation Fraud, Investigative Accountants, and the Elderly & Vulnerable Adults Units
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

The Minimum Requirements are:

  •  One (1) year secretarial or clerical experience*

The Preferred Qualifications and Skills are:

  •  Fluency in English and Spanish

Annual Salary: $34,824.48

* After successfully completing a six (6) month probationary period with a “4” or a “5” rating on their performance evaluation, the selected candidate may be eligible for a promotion to a Legal Assistant III classification with a 5% pay increase.
