Victim Witness Specialist II – Victim Witness Services Unit

Position Overview:
The Victim Witness Specialist II position provides support to the “A”, “B” and “C” level Assistant State Attorneys in the Felony Judicial Divisions. This position serves as a point of contact for victims and witnesses, as well as provides guidance and support throughout the criminal justice system. The work schedule for this position is 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but flexibility of the work schedule is needed. This position does not offer the ability to telework.
The Job Responsibilities are:
- Preparing weekly availability lists for trial
- Assessing victims’ needs and making appropriate referrals to community resources for victims’ assistance
- Providing information to victims and witnesses on their rights and the criminal justice system
- Sending mandatory trial subpoenas
- Preparing witness locates
- Coordinating the appearances of victims and witnesses for depositions, satellite depositions, and court hearings
- Assisting the Assistant State Attorneys when preparing for trial
- Performing phone contact with victims and witnesses
- Performing other related duties as assigned
The Minimum Requirements are:
- Bachelor’s Degree or,
- Associate Degree and one (1) year experience with work in the area of criminal justice, social science, counseling, public contact/customer service or,
- An equivalent combination of education and experience
The Preferred Qualifications and Skills are:
- Fluency in English and Spanish or English and Creole
- Having customer service experience

Starting Annual Salary: $34,860.12
