Homicide Counselors keep and maintain data for homicide victims.   Males were grossly overrepresented, accounting for 80% of homicide victims.  African Americans and Haitians also were grossly overrepresented, accounting for 55% of victims in 2018 and 61% in 2019.  Our data is consistent with national data.

Note that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that homicide is the leading cause of death for Non-Hispanic Black males from 1 to 19 (35.3%) and 20-44 (27.6%) years of age, as well as the fourth leading cause of death for Non-Hispanic Black males of all ages (5%).  See https://www.cdc.gov/healthequity/lcod/men-/2017/index.html for further information.
