State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle virtually addressed a panel hosted by the Florida Bar titled “Pandemic in the Criminal Justice System: Are We Better or Worse Off?”..

Attendees included state prosecutors, public defenders, attorneys, and judges serving throughout Florida. The State Attorney revealed insights into how her office administered justice during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It always is great to connect with my colleagues to share ways we can best serve and protect our communities,” commented State Attorney Fernandez Rundle. “Our criminal justice system partners from the judiciary, municipal police departments, and our county’s corrections department were incredible during the pandemic. Our collaboration helped us execute nearly 25,000 pre-filings, 47,000 county and circuit hearings, and service more than 40,000 virtual conference calls. Additionally, my office used this time aggressively to transition to paperless operations which have improved access and increased efficiency.”
