"The murder of Susan Sutton and the attempted murder of her husband, John Sutton, were horrible crimes. But more horrifying is the fact that their own son committed these violent acts.

Mr. Sutton survived the incident, but has been blinded and permanently disfigured. The Sutton family adopted the accused when he was but a few days old, and according to his father, always received and enjoyed nothing but love and support.
